Pro Tips for a Successful Event

  • Print or screenshot the ticket and QR code that is in your registration email. You may have gotten emails that look similar, but your check-in ticket is in the email that looks like this:
  • If you choose to print your ticket please do NOT fold it with a crease through the QR code or it might not scan
  • Try to take advantage of early check-in. Avoid waiting in line the morning of the ride, and start your ride as soon as you can!
  • Be sure everyone in your party has completed the Release of Liability waiver before getting into a registration line

Road closure

7 am to noon. Lower Hurricane Ridge Road closed to local traffic only, and the upper road into the park will be closed to all motor vehicles. IMPORTANT: It is VERY important that you time your departure in order to be completely off Hurricane Ridge road by noon when it opens to motor vehicles. For most cyclists that means departing the pier between 6 am and 8 am (although very fit cyclists may depart later), and leaving the top no later than 11:30 am. Our aid station volunteers will be heading up around 6:30 am to be in place before the road is closed to traffic. Cyclists who depart too early get in the way of our volunteers and medics trying to head up, and the aid stations will not be in place, so please do not plan to leave prior to 6 am. The first Aid Station at Heart of the Hills is 7.2 miles from the ride start, and it will open at 7 am, so please plan your departure to arrive at Aid Station #1 no earlier than that.

Release of liability waiver

You cannot check in for the ride or receive your ride packet unless you have completed the Release of Liability waiver. We have a lot of cyclists to check in and people who haven’t done the waiver significantly hold up the line. Please don’t be “that person”. If you try to check in and your waiver is not done you will be asked to step out of line and complete it on your phone. Each cyclists must have a their own signed waiver on file, except for minors who must be listed on an adult waiver. If you registered someone else for the ride, please forward the waiver link to them and make sure they know to do it BEFORE they come to check-in,. You can find the waiver HERE.

parking

NOTE: The National Park has added a larger entrance booth at Heart of the Hills and there is minimal parking at that location. Downtown Port Angeles has plenty of free parking, and we’ve rented the bus transit lanes for additional space. Click here for an interactive map of free downtown parking lots, which are shaded in orange.
