- Ride Day Check-in – Opens at 6:00am – All cyclists must be checked in by 9 am to ensure they have enough time to make it to the top.

- Ride Finish – Same as the start location. Cyclists start crossing the finish line around 8:30 am, and keep going all morning long.
- After Party – Tacos, Beer, and Soft Drinks will start being served at 10 am on Port Angeles City Pier, across the parking lot from the start/finish line
- Bike Corral – If we get enough interest we’ll have secured, attended bike parking after the ride from 1pm to 5pm in a parking lot across from the Coho Ferry dock
After Party
- 10 am – 2 pm on Port Angeles City Pier. IMPORTANT! We need to know if you’re coming to the After Party, so please find your registration confirmation email (the subject line is Ride the Hurricane 2025 Registration Confirmation which you should be able to find through an email search) and choose manage registration, and then Add-ons. Scroll down to RSVP for the After Party.
Road closure
7 am to 12 pm – Hurricane Ridge will be closed. Lower Hurricane Ridge Road will be open to local traffic only, and the upper road into the park will be closed to all motor vehicles. IMPORTANT: It is VERY important that you time your departure in order to be completely off Hurricane Ridge road by noon when it opens to motor vehicles. For most cyclists that means departing the pier between 6 am and 8 am (although very fit cyclists may depart later), and leaving the top no later than 11:30-11:45 am. We’ll have sweepers departing the top to turn around any cyclists who are still heading up at that time. Cyclists who depart earlier than 6 am should watch for for the vehicles of our aid station volunteers and emergency services ambulance as they head to their places up the mountain.
Parking
Update: National Park staff does not want cyclists to park at Heart of the Hills. Cyclists can be dropped off at the park entrance at Heart of the Hills, but the vehicle dropping you off must be completely off Hurricane Ridge road by 7am.
Heart of the Hills is not an official parking spot for the ride, so please do not park there. If you don’t want to start at the official ride start on city pier, please start elsewhere along the route.
Below is a map of all the free parking lots near the ride start, shaded in orange. You can also park for free on downtown streets unless posted. The posted 3 hour limit for free parking will not be enforced on the day of the ride. You can also view an interactive parking map on your mobile device by clicking the link below.

Ride Check-in
Early Check-in: If you’re in town the day before the ride we encourage you to use early check-in and get your ride packet then. That will allow you to skip the check-in line on ride morning. Early check-in will be on Friday and Saturday at Port Angeles City Pier (at the location of the ride start) at 315 N. Lincoln St. Hours for early check-in are 6-8 pm.
Ride Day Check In: 6 am to 9 am at Port Angeles City Pier, where the ride begins. We’ve made check in an hour earlier for those who want an earlier start. Please make it easier on our volunteers by allowing them to set up without being asked to help cyclists earlier than the posted hours. Be aware that aid stations will begin servicing at 7 am, so early departures may miss some services along the lower route.
Aid Stations
There will be five aid stations along the route, as well as a drink and snack station at the summit. There will also be a hydration station and restroom at mile marker 2 of Hurricane Ridge road, between City Pier and Heart of the Hills. This is a water stop only with no food, tools, or services. Each aid station will provide light snacks, water, and a portable toilet (except aid station #6 ). For details about aid station locations visit our route page where you’ll find locations, distances, a cue sheet, and an interactive route map. All distances are approximate.

Segment Challenge with Strava
We’ll have a Strava challenge for the ascent portion of the ride only. The National Park does not want cyclists racing down the mountain, so only the climb will be counted. If you’d like to participate in the Strava segment challenge you must have a Strava account and a device to record your ride. The top 20 ascent times will be available on this site after the ride.
